Mike -
Once a batch man always a batch man. The reality is that Dell's move in no way supports your contention. What Dell is doing now for an entry product is to expedite its manufacture for the Christmas market. Contracting is a more expensive way to build and I expect a short lived solution.

Mike - Let's place a little "gentleman's bet" on that and check in 6 months. I have fairly reliable information that says that there is no plan to move away from this manufacturing model on Webpc EVER and that there is solid business justification for that decision. But lets let events tell the tale. Say about May of 2000???
