Read-Rite Announces GMR Qualification on Samsung's SpinPoint 9.1GB and 10.2GB Hard Disk Drive Programs

MILPITAS, Calif., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Read-Rite Corporation
(Nasdaq: RDRT - news) today announced qualification of its GMR head
stack assemblies (HSAs) for Samsung Corporation's 9.1GB per platter and
10.2GB per platter SpinPoint hard disk drive programs.

As announced at the end of October, Read-Rite has already begun ramping
up volume production in anticipation of these qualifications, and volume
shipments have already begun.

Read-Rite Qualified on Western Digital's 9.1GB and 10.2GB Caviar Disk Drive Programs

MILPITAS, Calif., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Read-Rite Corporation (Nasdaq:
RDRT - news) today announced it is qualified and shipping GMR HGAs, at an
areal density of 6.6 gigabits per square inch, for Western Digital's 9.1GB per
platter and 10.2GB per platter Caviar 5400 rpm programs. Read-Rite is
shipping head gimbal assemblies and head stack assemblies with up to six
heads per stack for the Caviar program.
