CrossKeys takes lead in OSS Integration Capabilities for Carrier-Scale Service Providers KANATA, ONTARIO--New OSS Toolkit for CrossKeys Resolve offers easy, low-cost integration of multiple OSS systems critical to guaranteeing quality of service for advanced applications such as eCommerce and VPNs CrossKeys Systems Corporation (Nasdaq: CKEY; TSE: CKY) today announced the new OSS Toolkit capability for CrossKeys Resolve(r) portfolio, the industry's most feature-rich, carrier-scale performance management software. The OSS Toolkit sets the standard for seamless integration among operational support systems (OSS) -- such as provisioning, billing and trouble ticketing -- in a service provider's environment. Service providers have long recognized that individual operational support systems -- such as those that enable service level agreements (SLAs) or advanced billing -- can be deployed as a competitive differentiator to win business. With CrossKeys Resolve OSS integration, service providers can position themselves as leading edge providers of a complete infrastructure that can deliver and demonstrate the quality of service necessary for advanced applications, such as eCommerce. The OSS Toolkit enables the CrossKeys Resolve portfolio to integrate with leading OSS vendors, as well as proprietary or legacy OSS software that may be present in a service provider's environment. With this integration, CrossKeys Resolve software can manage SLAs with non-network derived metrics that track service provider responsiveness, in addition to network performance metrics. Non-network metrics include commitments and measurements of the 'mean time to provision' (the lag between a request to set up services, such as data and phone lines for a new office, and its completion) and 'mean time to repair' (the time between notification and resolution of a problem). CrossKeys Resolve software draws this data from the other OSS applications through the OSS Toolkit. "The ability to incorporate customer-perceived metrics in SLAs is critical for the advanced applications of VPNs and eCommerce that service providers are offering," says Ian McLaren, President and CEO, CrossKeys. "When service providers saw their business as selling bandwidth, network metrics were critical. With service providers selling applications, the customer's perception of the service must be included in the equation to ensure complete satisfaction. You can run the best network in the world, but if you're slow to provision services or close a trouble ticket, the customer will find somebody else who can promise that satisfaction and prove they deliver it." The OSS Toolkit capability demonstrates CrossKeys leadership in open architecture and commitment to multi-vendor systems. As with CrossKeys other multi-vendor initiatives, the OSS Toolkit saves service providers money and allows them to select best-of-breed applications without concern for vendor conflict. The service provider saves money on purchase and retraining costs because they can maintain legacy OSS systems. Further savings can be realized through the automation of OSS-based services, eliminating costly manual entry of data in each OSS system. When OSS software works together seamlessly, newly provisioned services are reported automatically to the assurance software to begin SLA monitoring, and this data is reported to the billing system to produce accurate statements. The OSS Toolkit functionality is available now as part of the CrossKeys Resolve portfolio, and will receive further enhancements in the upcoming release of CrossKeys Resolve 3.1, slated for February.
