I was very fortunate. On Wednesday night, I might have gone over to the Capitol Hill area. I thought it was safe, but I was wrong. Riots until 3 AM. Police with tear gas on Broadway, the main street.

Evidently, the police thought their precinct was under attack in that area but I heard that their station was quite a few blocks away. So people sipping their coffee and tea in a coffee shop got hit with tear gas.

The residents who live in that area were very critical of the police. Were they justified? I don't know. Last night they planned a demonstration. I think they were wrong. It is too dangerous to be on the streets.

There are legitimate ways to deal with the police about neighborhood problems. We have a block-watch captain. Representatives from the Police Dept will meet with us if there are problems. Capitol Hill residents are also represented by members in City Council. So definitely you do not have to go out on the Streets and protest when the downtown core is already under siege and in a state of emergency.

But you cry when you think of the damage. And you feel so sorry for the innocent victims who got caught up in the demonstrations on their way to work Monday morning.

We feel so very sorry for the downtown merchants. They have lost so much money.

On the news last night, I heard that a well-organized group of anarchists were responsible for most of the violent damage. These people believe in anarchy. If the police catch them, I hope they put them in jail for a very, very long time and make them spend hours and hours cleaning up our city.
