This allows the company to issue esp.b with limited voting control. However, nothing stops some one to buy esp.a on the open market which is what I do when I want to add..

Yes, generally I don't like this kind of structure, since it is unnecessary and adds to complexity but it seems there are many canadian companies with this arrangement.

However, it is absolutely incorrect to say share holders were screwed...

Re. SLM, I should have also mentioned that they do have a half decent site so you can check some of the stuff for your self... In terms of shares, there should be equal number of esp.a and esp.b shares....... slmsoft.com
