Darleen its the same reason Netscape didn't go anywhere after MSFT started giving away Explorer.
Tegic was a privatly run firm and in business to make a profit. As such they sold their engineering services and software. ZICA really hasn't let on how they got their deals (Did they underprice Tegic).
Anyway Tegic offers wireless e-mail, messaging and the text input software.
I doubt AOL is interested in this software (Tegic) as a business, rather AOL wants to bundle this capability in with their internet service and raise the bar so to speak......perhaps they are interested in some sort of standard, however I don't know if anything within the Tegic products would lend itself towards that.
They could end up giving away the input software, in which case the game changes for ZICA
