John,

By my assessment, the handhelds have finally crossed chasm, and are currently in the bowling alley stage.

Don't forget that bowling-alley strategies don't work well with consumer products. If you're right that handhelds have crossed the chasm, it's important that Palm use horizontal marketing as in the tornado stage even if the tornado hasn't begun. My thinking is that signing up Sony as a partner is part and parcel to that strategy, a darned good one.

So, if there is enough interests, I could set up a Handhelds GG portfolio, similar to Mike Buckley's Front Office GG portfolio, and give everybody periodic updates on handhelds tornado watch.

Please, yes! YES! YES!

John,

<< So, if there is enough interests, I could set up a Handhelds GG portfolio >>

Thats a great idea, IMO. I for one would be very interested.

Related to this subject Mark Oliver started a pretty good thread that you have probably seen back in July called "Access Anywhere, Anytime. Cell Phones/PDA's join the Net", located at:

Unfortunately it has kind of run out of steam.

I hope it gets revitalized.

John, Yes, I think it would be great to have a handheld GG thread. It's worth pointing out that Palm has inked deals with Nokia to put the palm platform on the next generation phones, which will completely swamp the organizer market in scale. Also, the Palm V11 has opened a totally new market as a web access device. A very good argument could be made that Palm has already entered the tornado. This thread is so busy, however, that it may be very wise to create a separate forum.
