I agree with you, in principle, but I also feel that there was much fear that last night's looting, destruction and mob action would continue to escalate, and get out of hand into today. I also feel that the politicians were caught completely flat footed by the thugs mixed in among the honorable protestors. OTOH, it is not easy to provide a safe environment when you are dealing with 30,000 zealots.

I hope that the few police and members of the National Guard that victimized innocent protestors and news reporters will be held accountable. I won't hold my breath waiting......
