Brian,

I would never own one of the "component manufacturers". The business is ruthless and it's at the bottom of the food chain. My best friend who is now in charge of engineering at Magellan Corp (GPS receivers) used to be a senior design engineer at Triquint Semiconductor. He invests in those stocks only because he is intimate with the technology. He warns me to be careful of investing in these stocks.

It's best to invest in the companies that have a lot of consistent design wins if you want to play in that field.

Anyway, are you going to take me up on my friendly bet?

Eric
