My understanding from the PM was that the old SI will go for good, and that they will provide a setting in the new SI which will make it look sort of like the old SI. While I think the new SI is ugly, the biggest reason I don't use it is that it doesn't work for me. I can't access my mailbox or bookmarks, and navigating to the chat threads is a pain. Since I don't allow cookies, I can't customize it, and I presume that is also why I can't find bookmarks, etc.
