New-home sales surge to record:

WASHINGTON -- Sales of new homes soared 16.3% in October to an
all-time high level even as mortgage rates continued to climb. The sales
increase was the biggest in more than six years. The Commerce
Department reported Thursday that sales of new single-family homes
sprinted ahead to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 986,000 units in
October. The surge marked the biggest jump in new-home sales since a
16.7% increase in April 1993, the government said. Sales were up
significantly in all parts of the country except the Northeast, where they fell.
October's growth was bigger than many analysts expected. They were
forecasting sales to rise to 875,000 units. In September, new-home sales
plunged 8.1% to an annual rate of 848,000 units, not as bad as the 12.8%
decline the government previously estimated.

RE: Kirk: Good idea on the refurb. Thanks for the suggestion. I am surprised you did not buy an HP.

LOL... yes, I was told an amateur does not know the difference between a great company selling great products at great prices, but too expensive to invest in. So I sit on my 45% YTD gains in HWP and buy my refurbished PCs from Dell which has gone nowhere as a stock this year. (Hwp had like 2 units in their refurb bin.... not sure if this says they have less come back or they are better at selling the refurbs to employees, and filling internal orders, etc.). I buy for value no matter if merchandise or stocks. 8)

BTW, I wonder if JR bought any BOWG at the last $1.5 price I had in our newsletter? Seems his post to me here was his last chance! I've been told some have made 10x their money following some of our simple buy/sell points for that "loser".

HWP getting recognition as having CMGI potential today and BOWG going thru the roof...watermelon smiles here!
