Ya I use an ISP,,56K and it's not great but OK..the bottle neck
is in the slowest modem in the link up..some ISPs have not updated
to 56K , and I can tell when the other person is on a slow connection
there are other tricks too.

Don't hold down the talk key for too
long ( big packets get fragmented ) use shorter sentences as
the routers will handle smaller packets better..
Also during peak hours there is brown out , not just with
digital voice I find it wide spread and getting worse..the
major backbones are running over loaded.
Hell I've seen times I can get on a TI line and the net is slow,
there is too much video streaming stuff getting crammed into the
highway. Some people seem to think band width is unlimited..
well they are wrong..and when it's bandwidth over load on the
backbone then even a slow modem has to wait on data.
It's not perfect but it is free.
