Concensus Rating for the S&P 500

Unweighted: 2.02
Weighted: 1.83

Scale (1=Strong buy...5=Strong sell)

The unweighted number is simply the average of the
consensus ratings for the individual stocks. The weighting
factor for the other number is the market cap for the
individual stock divided by the sum of all the market caps.
Thus it is weighted the same way as the SPX index.

My intent is to monitor these numbers over time to judge
their ability to forecast index direction.

heinz, Very interesting article.

But the problem of waves is one of "interpretation". Even Elliotticians differ as Favors is calling for minimum DOW 12,000 and the likes of Prechter below 9,000 shortly.
