I am not going to get embroiled in this discussion to far but I have to agree with you on one point and very vocally disagree on another!!

You are correct in this being an act of opportunity rather than a conspiracy or plan. Most of these types are just that, an opportunity.

But in your statement: " One or two guys break the windows and how many teenagers are going to be able to resist running in and grabbing a pair of shoes."

I take great exception here, the honest ones could and would resist becoming thieves!!!

Lizzie, I don't know who vandalized the Nike store in Seattle--I read in the newspaper that there were organized groups of anarchists involved, people who wore all black and were philosophically bent on disruption. I would strongly suspect that the Nike store was a deliberate target, however, based on their long history of Asian sweatshops and widespread abuses of employees:
