Analog Devices chipsets in largest ADSL deployment

NORWOOD, Mass., Dec 2 (Reuters) - Analog Devices Inc., maker of circuits that convert voice and video into digital signals, on Thursday said its chipsets will be part of the largest single deployment of asymmetric digital subscriber lines, which allow high speed communications transmissions over traditional phone lines.

The company said 180,000 of its ADSL chipsets will be used in the 90,000 asymmetric digital subscriber lines Korea Telecom <30200.KS> is planing to install by February. The lines use Hyundai Group's 1/8HYGR.CN 3/8 SpeedXess xDSL system, which includes the Analog Devices chipsets.

The 90,000 lines represent the largest single deployement of the technology, Colleen Cronin, Analog spokeswoman said. She also said the company would not release the value of the deal.

Analog Devices said Korea Telecom will deploy an additional one million ADSL lines by the end of 2000.

Shares of Analog Devices rose to a new 52-week high of 66-1/2 Thursday before sliding back to 66-3/8, up 5-11/16.
