Couldn't agree more. There are trading situations and holding situations for me. Learning the difference is an ongoing process. Taking profits is great, and I certainly do this on most of my positions. But I am not diligent enough to always get back into positions that i have sold out at a profit when they start to run. Not an argument as to which philosophy is better...just that when I believe in a sector or a company's position (or perception of it's position) in that key sector, I think it is a hold and accumulate on dips. Can't argue with ciVic, as I trade often and increasingly well. But I am not good enough at it not to hold on to key issues which I believe in...
