johnd, thread, at the Republican candidates debate in Manchester, NH, Bush, McCain,
Steve Forbes, Gary Bauer, Orrin Hatch, one other present, Forbes' question from the moderator was 'what about the Microsoft vs. gov. case, should they be broken up as were AT&T, Standard Oil.' He did well with his answer, saying it's now moot, i.e., since the whole thing was started, Sun has blossomed (or some such words), the Internet has exploded, AOL has mushroomed (soomething like that). Sounded good until he said they also have competition from Lunix. Oh no! He definitely said, phonetically speaking, LOONIX. Oh well. I told my wife he probably doesn't hurt himself because most listeners won't know Linux from Linus in Charley Brown. He did have the "right" answer though, hopefully the spirit comes through.

Tony

Your analysis looks reasonable to me. Although I may be uncomfortable with 70 PEs, I don't see any big reason for them to fall: We need more general fear for that.

Interestingly enough, you give three reasons for a strong upturn: Each would suffice; all are valid. DOJ stuff could apply the brakes.

You've given me an awful fright -- Remembering stuff I posted six months ago! I had no idea anyone was paying any attention. In the future, I'll need to be more careful about what I post.

Anyway, I'm looking for $125 when options expire in April 00. I wish I could share your optimism for January, but I don't. I see a higher price than today, but not quite meeting your prediction. I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

Cheers, PW.

P.S. Have you ever noticed that those people who consistently agree with you seem the most intelligent?
