that's about the best post I've seen.I would have said something earlier but I figured SI members know a bit what they are talking about.I recall a NITE board having a contest at what price NITE would split when it was at 150;most said 200,and NITE split at 140 and then went to 30.The difference there was NITE had gone from 40 to 160 in 8weeks where CHTR hasn't done anything yet.I'm long but I don't understand the blind giddiness.

past performance is no guarantee of future performance...

CHTR has a vision of the future, buying smaller companies, striking deals with big companies... and that's what sets long term winners from the crowd... add to that Mr. Allen's super deep pockets and you get a sure long term winner...

by the way, did you ever think how much Mr. Buffet would be worth had he invested in technology way back then... but the vision was not there...unlike Mr Gates, Mr. Dell, Mr. Case, Mr. Jobs, Mr. McNeally, Mr. Grove ... to name a few...

best regards
amein

Having just read your post again, after it was included in the CBS Marketwatch article, it struck me just how stupid it was.

Let's see PA was involved early on with MSFT, possibly the greatest investment of all time. Left because he had a little problem with Hodgkins and decided to enjoy life for a while. He was also an early investor in AOL. He bailed on that because he wasn't able to get enough stock to run things. He is not soley interested in dollars. Still he clearly saw that interconnected community would be big.

And now you want us to bail on PA and CHTR? For MSFT and AOL? Both still good investments, but we'll talk in five years and see how they've all done.

I'll take a pass pass on that idea.
