I don't think the Turk is limiting his investments to sports related companies, rather targeting professional athletes as clients.
He talked about his experience, when he signed a contract making him the world's highest paid athlete (WHA days), and signed on with an investment advisor from a "brown shoe" firm. The advisor took him to the inner sanctum of some wood panelled room, with fluffy cushioned chairs, and told him what he was going to do with his money. Turk doesn't want that in his relationship with his clients. He wants them to be equal partners, not treated like dumb athletes.
