Gary, the best form of misinformation is that which has many facts, so to put a good spin on something you do well by adding some real facts.

Your opinions are your prerogative and like any other member you have the right to divulge and delineate as you please, but don't get insulted when you are confronted by an opposing opinion.

3Com without the Palm has over $5 Billion in revenue, over $3 Billion dollars in liquid assets, over 100 patents related to the emerging markets, distribution channels second to none and will remain in one of fastest growing sectors, networking and e-networks. Now continue to fool the rest of the public that this company is nothing without the Palm, but you do not fool many of us because we know otherwise.

Now Mr. Mark and russn, if you wish to respect Gary's remarks, that is your prerogative, but don't ever tell anyone else what they should do, we are all entitled to our own opinions. If I had listened to Gary, I would have never touched this stock. I would have also thought that EB was an uneducated clown. Well, most of us know that he is very articulate and versed in matters concerning the emerging markets.

As I have said the past is the past and 3Com is back with a vengence!!!

Bruce,

It's tough prove that Eric is not a visionary except for the fact that he has shown no vision. Recognizing PALM as a winner isn't vision. Please demonstrate to me what Eric has done that shows vision. That is, recognizing a new undeveloped technology and then moving the company toward execution.

As for Cisco and partnering. Cisco has made a history of patnering and as I said has an organization devoted to it. COMS does not. Unfortunately this page only discuss the high profile partners but it does support my argument.

cisco.com

Employees - yes, I asked you for some data on COMS employee's loving to work there. I think it's incumbent upon the poster to prove his/her position. You made the comment that COMS employees enjoy working at COMS of which I was not aware. So, please share your data.

Bruce, EB was so late to the convergence game it's not even funny - it's laughable. I've been in the business for over 15 years and I can tell you everyone - every company worth their salt has been talking about convergence for at least the last 5 and the real visionary companies have been discussing it for the past 15. It goes back to TDM voice with companies like NET and Newbridge. Then came packet and/or cell based companies that were "converging" data and voice in a more effecient manner. Convergence on IP became big about 4-5 years ago. Cisco acutally started and chaired the first VoIP forum meetings back in 96/97. Bruce, I'm not sure what your background is but your of base on this one.

Again, you last comment about setting forth facts demonstrating that Eric isn't a visionary is rather impossible since it's mostly a matter of opinion. However Eric bought a modem company when modems were beyond a mature market. He focused his company on edge "widgets" which are relatively low margin and high volume and lost leadership to Intel. He gave up on the router market - the huge growth market. He's not been able to grow the company and has had three years of flat revenues in an amazing growth market. He continue to make mistakes - buildling broadband CPE insetead of infrastructure - the same mistake he made by building modems instead of routers. He found a gold nugget in his pocket with PALM - a surprise - I guarantee since he bought USRX to get into the remote access market... well, he still like number 3 or 4 market share in that space. He continues to allow COMS to lose market share in nearly every segment they play in. This is not the work of a visionary. This is the work of an incompetant CEO. Tell me why you think someone that has been completely unsuccessful in taking his company to the "next level" is a visionary.
