I'm envious. If I didn't have work on Friday I'd be there in person as well.

You'll have to take your laptop and give us a first person account.

Regards,

Why??

<< 2) The furniture.com thing scares me.>>

It should probably scare me too as I have my money on the line, but I am not afraid. My wife and I just ordered about $6500 worth of dining room furniture. This was done after shopping locally and in nearby larger city. High quality was not available locally. At a fine store in a nearby large city, the furniture price was too high compared to what is available from furniture.com. For example the store wanted over $10000 just for a China Hutch we were looking at. I got my money the hard way, I do not like wasting it on an excessive markup by a middle man.

Look at the furniture.com's web site, you can see who mfr's the piece you are interested in. In many cases the mfr will have a web site and you can look at that too. You can also search for info on the mfr and look to see who else sells the stuff.

Look at the multiple warranties given. I trust furniture.com because they have CMGI's backing. Word of mouth happy customers will help drive new business to the web site.

I would be scared to death of the internet if I owned a brick and mortar store. The early adopter people do not need the middle man anymore, many more people will later follow the early birds.
