But for size the Midwest is tops. Lots of places crawling with deer but they are smaller than here.

I think the fact I was on an island had a lot to do with it. I don't think I have ever taken a large deer on an island. There are large deer in VA. In fact I am about to nail a monster there. But I think Ish is correct.
