On November 7th we initiated coverage of Inprise at the $4.81 level and we have continued to re-iterate our strong opinion about the merit of this investment. We are taking this opportunity to suggest that INPR from a VTAR viewpoint does appear to be quite positive and we urge you to re-visit the stock, sooner rather than later. INPR current price is $9 5/8.

…from the 11/29/99 Follow up:

Inprise Corp [INPR-4.81] Now 7.71875 + 2.90 = + 60% is behind the rest and we rate a Strong Buy. 11/7/99: “exploded on Friday, perhaps in response to the Cobalt reception in the market. It hit a high of $6.00 and a low for the day at $4.38. In effect, it gave up nearly 100% of the move. We rate a ‘Strong Buy.'”

I am expecting a broad technology alliance between SUNW and INPR with a multimillion dollar equity investment by SUNW. Wouldn't SUNW want to do this as it is their equipment which will be used as Application Servers? The Application Server business is going into a frenzy and I am betting that Inprise is going to continue to be the leader and dominate.

INPR has a lot going for it now. The Application Server market is on fire and if INPR ties Delphi for Linux and JBuilder for Linux into a one-stop-suite of integrated front-end rapid application development tools to the back-end object request broker application servers then LOOK OUT BABY. INPR goes to at least $30 a share which is still a market cap lower than $2 billion and still, overall, quite reasonable.

Comments would be appreciated by those currently using the above.
