Mike,

I don't believe I'm missing the point at all. PALM is growing but it is not me that is ignoring it. Remember - COMS is spinning it off... therefore if we're going to talk about COMS we need to talk about what's left.

NIC's - they've lost leadership to Intel
Modem's - yes a declining business we agree.
Cable modems - a growth business but still modems. Margins will shrink
DSL modems - same as cable modems
routers - they again are losing market share
Voice over IP - they have an enterprise play which is TAPI based. We've discussed this before. NT, LU, CSCO, and others including MSFT will make it difficult at best for COMS to get much traction here
RAS - they are losing market share
CMTS - they are losing market share (except the most recent quarter analysts say COMS held their own).
DSLAM - ooops don't have one
Optics - oooops nothing there either
ATM - ummm. nevermind
HUBs - oh now there is a big growth market with excellent margins
wireless LAN's - I haven't looked at this for COMS. Does COMS even have story?

Please help me out Mike. What peice of the "blob" am I missing? Do you think investors will invest in a company losing market share and showing flat revenues in a market growing at 20% annually? Not when they can buy NT, LU, or CSCO. Face we're all here (or at least many of us) for the PALM IPO play. after that...unless COMS demonstrates why more than a few of the points above are wrong this stock will suffer once the 80% of PALM is distributed.
