Try telling that to Fund Manager Smith, who has to keep up with Fund Manager Jones. Try telling that to Mr. A, a value investor, who is out drinking with Mr. B, a bandwagon kind of guy, and has to listen to the tale of how Mr. B became a paper millionaire this year investing in the JDS Uniphases of the market.

In all seriousness, I know some really good value fund guys who have lost a ton of business this year. And, of course, the redemptions force them to sell their holdings, which further drives down their stocks, which causes more redemptions.
