Greenspan to attend Commerce Dept. press briefing

WASHINGTON, Dec 3 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan will attend a press briefing at the Commerce Department on Tuesday, Dec. 7, to commemorate the contributions that gross domestic product data and related measures have made to the U.S. economy, the Fed announced on Friday.

The event is scheduled for 10:00 a.m (1500 GMT) on Tuesday.

It is to be a commemorative event, looking at the accomplishments of the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis over the past several decades.

Commerce Secretary William Daley and Undersecretary Robert Shapiro will participate, among other officials.

Greenspan will deliver prepared remarks but will not take questions, according to a Fed schedule of public events.
