DSL rollout is occurring faster than expected. Of the roughly 4,850 ISPs in
the U.S. in 1999, approximately 31 percent claim to offer Digital Subscriber
Lines (DSL). From our research, we expect that at the close of 1999,
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will have deployed 1.35 million unique,
revenue-generating xDSL lines.
Web-wait-weary consumers and cost-conscious businesses have leapt at the
chance to improve their Internet performance and avoid other forms of costly
dedicated access, but few in the industry expected their leap to be of such
Carl Lewis proportions. The DSL rollout is literally a stampede, as ISPs
rush to compete with cable companies and find ways to boost their operating
margins. In fact, line deployment will surpass the one million mark by
yearend and growth is being delayed by equipment makers' abilities to meet
demand and carriers' abilities to make lines live fast enough.

We at Cahners In-Stat Group sees wireless data service potential in the
following key markets:
* Through sheer scope of coverage, RBOCs win ISPs' mindshare when they look
for a DSL carrier partner.
* On a dollar-per-dollar basis, national data CLECs are taking more than
their fair share of DSL network service provider revenue.
* GTE and Cisco were named the preferred DSL carrier and equipment partners
respectively.

For the accountants in this humbling abode...

Are there tax ramifications/incentives for a buyer to purchase PAIR's ME Unit before the end of the year? I'm thinking the buyer may want to account for the transaction this calendar year if their fiscal period coincides with a January to December timeframe. If this is the case, we can expect news of the transaction within the next couple of weeks? Thanks.
