Off topic: While checking some old news I just found this piece of information about the communist regime in Cuba granting permission to a Canadian Co, to build a hotel at JIBACOA, Cuba. I don't know if this Canadian Co. will have enough time to finish the construction before the Castro dictatorship comes to an end. If they do build it on time, which I doubt, I will be visiting it when the people of Cuba regain their freedom in a not to distant future and will be glad to invite any one that may be interested and send me an E-mail at Jibacoa@aol.com. Here is the news: VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 1999-- Leisure Canada Inc.(CANADIAN DEALING NETWORK:LCAN.)is pleased to announce that its Cuban joint venture with Gran Caribe Hotels S.A. has received approval and authorization to begin construction of the first hotel on Leisure Canada's flagship site at JIBACOA, Cuba. This approval is the culmination of 3 years effort to move the project forward and to begin construction on the first hotel of Phase I on this site. Leisure Canada expects preliminary construction activities will begin in the early part of January, 2000. JIBACOA is Leisure Canada's flagship resort and covers over 5 1/2 square kilometers of Cuba's most desired waterfront, 65 kilometers east of Havana on the coast highway, midway between Havana and the resort area of Varadero. This flagship property will be anchored by world-renowned groups such as Le Meridien Hotel Group and PGA Golf Management, a subsidiary company of the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland, combining to make JIBACOA one of Cuba's most preeminent destination resorts. JIBACOA will consist of six hotels, two championship golf courses surrounded by timeshare villas, a marina and all the amenities afforded to a destination resort of this caliber. AGAIN, I DON'T THINK IT WILL BE LONG BEFORE THE CUBAN PEOPLE REGAIN THEIR FREEDOM AFTER MORE THAN FORTY YEARS OF COMMUNIST DICTATORSHIP. OUNCE CASTRO IS GONE THIS MAY BE A GOOD PLACE TO GO AND CELEBRATE. Bernard
