PS I'm sure most everyone has tried these search engines by now, but in case you haven't, try:

Google:http://www.google.com/

NorthernLight:http://www.northernlight.com/

NorthernLight for research:http://nlresearch.northernlight.com/research.html

I rarely use the "old standby" engines anymore. These give a much higher percentage of relevant hits...the way Infoseek USED to be. With Google, you can even get cached versions of pages that no longer exist. Not sure how long they maintain these, but it's come in handy on a number of occasions.
