Re: "AMD desperately needs them for sales in Q1. If we do not get GTW or HWP, I do not see how we could surpass 1.5 Million Athlon in Q1."

Hi Mani:

Just watch IBM, Compaq and Fujitsu in Y2000? My guess is an Athlon stampede is in the making...It's GTW's loss if they don't get in on the ground floor.

With or without GTW, (saw an estimate today of 9.6 million Athlons in Y2000 from a respected analyst (almost 10 million), Athlon is likely to ship 10 million (conservatively) Athlons in Y2000.

GTW runs a very real risk, imho, by, once again being wooed by "some-time-in-the-future" promises of AMD's main competitor which have blown up on them at least twice in the past 2 months, of finding themselves at the end of the backlogged queue for Athlons in Y2000!

Critical business decision. I hope for their sake that they make the right one!
