It probably has nothing to do with the camera. I know INEXTV has a broadcast studio in New York and they probably shot it there on Betacam SP or DigiBetacam which are not consumer formats.

I think Ampex has done some magic in the way the video is compressed and/or delivered over the net to get a better picture.

The new DV cameras are good. I've cut documentary footage shot on them and they are gaining limited acceptance in news because of their cost and size, but they don't even come close to the Broadcast cameras in quality.

However, even the most expensive DV camera is probably about ten to twenty thousand dollars cheaper than a Digital Betacam rig.

If you're considering buying a video camera, definitely go with a DV. They are far superior to VHS.

BTW, I don't shoot (professionally). I only edit. I put the shows together after they've been shot.
