Hi, Turs. Glad you stopped by.

Your input on the EC mirror business is appreciated.

gentexcorp.com

1958 - they've got us by 16 years. I was interested to read of their history in the silk weaving business. My grandfather worked for a similar company at that time and they suffered a similar fate. Klots Throwing Company, that was a fine name. Carbondale is another winner; I visualize the graphitic form.

Adding to the confusion, there's also Gentex Optics (division of Essilor of America), a well-known producer of polycarbonate lenses. I believe it was once part of the "other" Gentex. Their lenses are available with a scratch resistant glasslike coating. I was surprised to learn that it's not a division of GNTX. <g>

Hi Turs, good to hear from you.

Yeah, we were all very happy with the GNTX LED announcement! Will T. was kind enough to post the news here soon after it was released and apparently before the big-hitters digested it. I very rarely make purchases so quickly (for stocks I don't regularly buy) but made an exception, luckily <g>.

Oops! I didn't notice that the patent I linked was from the Carbondale Gentex! The term "Squarylium" piqued my interest <g>.

As an aside, I was driving up to Orlando to pick up my wife at the airport last night and saw what appeared to be LED taillights on all the Fedex trucks. Red ones (no amber).
