MOTHERBOARDS:

This link:
ixbt-labs.com

has an excellent review of Athlon motherboards.

You will see it:

-- likes only 1 of the lot
-- talks about supply issues
-- talks about how INTC uses its monopoly power
(if not legal what does AMD do about it?)

Best wishes,
Jim

Kash,

they have forgotten about the fundamentals of
their biz - Mhz sells, and deliver the customer the best technology at the best price.

Intel got caught with their pants down. I'm sure they never imagined that AMD could execute on the Athlon the way they have. Coming from the Cyrix camp, I can't believe it myself. They designed it in record time, layed it out in record time, built it, and the damn thing works as advertised. You really have to take your hats off to them. If they can now get a robust, low latency onchip cache working, SMP chips and boards, Mustang core improvement, 64 bit extensions, and SMP on-a-chip Sledgehammer working with similar execution, Intel is going to be in a world of hurt, and we are going to be wealthy.

Pravin.

Kash,
I couldn't have put it better myself concerning the i820...
Intel just loves to set the standard and reap the bennies.
Not this time...I've said it before, the Solano will put the i820 in some cubbyhole somewhere in a place far far away...
Meanwhile, I wonder if Intel will refund all those Taiwan motherboard makers for their dead i820 inventory? <G>
Skyrocketing SDRAM prices in the last six months couldn't have come at a worse time for Intel...

Jim

<The denial over on the Intel thread is amazing, reminds of the Rambus thread from a few months ago.>

No kidding! RMBS thread lost some of the cheerleaders over time. Intel cheerleading probably will see the same fate over the next few quarters (until Intel comes up with something that can wipe-out AMD offerings)
