I am not sure if PA has moved to the sidelines, and think this may be an interesting component to his wired world.

Actually I forgot to mention that supposedly Transmeta is targeting the mobile computing market with this chip. I haven't quite made the connection but I'm guessing it's that if you have a portable device that can run programs from any architecture, it becomes much easier to dynamically change the way the device works. It doesn't matter where or how the program was written, you can run it. This is no panacea, of course - keep in mind running a pocket organizer program on a toaster with one of these chips probably won't do anything meaningful - although maybe you can schedule when your toast pops up ;)
