Buckwheat:

re >>Maybe Intel fronted Gateway with enough money to buy a sizeable number of Athlon processors just to keep them off the market and away from other needy builders. Maybe Gateway never had any intentions of selling the Athlon systems.<<

This is absolutely correct. Hillary will confirm this vast right wing conspiracy as soon as she becomes president.

Hi buckwheat:

Doesn't work that way!

The Athlon is "the better mousetrap at the better price" and we all know that the North American public always wants the best. The Athlon, as demonstrated in Benchmark testing is the champion of the "here and now". Arms length awards from PC magazine and Maximum PC magazine only serve to further underscore the fact that the Athlon is a champion.

Athlon's competitors can "put their fingers in the dike" but it's a matter of time (like right noe) before the dike bursts and reality prevails....The reality is "The Athlon is the new kid on the block" and "this kid" has been exceptionally well received in the (market) neighbourhood!
