Going forward, going forward, going forward, going forward, going forward, going forward........ Anyone else get the chills every time this phrase is spoken on CNBC (which is every 3 minutes)? "Going forward" means absolutely nothing. Going forward...as opposed to going backward?? Kind of like the phrase "in the final analysis..." Empty. The main offenders, I've noticed, are those with nothing of substance to say, so they pad their comments with something they for some reason think will make them sound intelligent. Worst offender is Maria Bartiromo, who managed to use "going forward" about the same stock 3 times during the same spot one day recently...but that's not surprising.
