Of course if jlallen ran into one of those black walnuts while camping he could use it for firewood. It would be replaced by another tree someday anyway, probably a fast growing poplar. You know...a tree is a tree is a tree. What a profound statement from a deep thinker.

I was thinking about planting a walnut tree in my back yard, but found out that the shade is so dense it will kill most things that are under it. We went ahead and planted a couple of pecans, those take ten years to produce, and live for maybe 150. I've got some neat catalogues from tree companies if you're interested in planting a black walnut, for example.
