Sure opened a can of worms with my political comments. I'll know better next time. But I still can't help myself . . .

Ever since I can remember it was the democrats, not the republicans, who were in favor of raising the minimum wage.

Minimum wage is still not a living wage. As related to increases in the cost of living, it is way below what it was twenty years ago.

Who is it then, that specializes in keeping people poor and dependent?

Today's Democrats specialize in keeping people dependent and poor. In fact they rely upon their poverty and dependence to get and stay in office. (This wasn't always the case but it is now.)

You hit the nail on the head. For more on this topic, there's an enlightening book that gives the skinny on liberals in the US (IMO). It's called "The Terrible Truth About Liberals" by Neal Boortz. It's a quick read, only about 150 pages. It received a 4 1/2 star (out of 5) rating from 38 reviewers at Amazon.
