I agree that the race isn't only speed, and that Intel has a responsibility to it's customers to produce a high quality product, in volume, on time and to specification. AMD doesn't really have this pressure. If AMD fails, HP, Dell, Gateway, Compaq, all the others will do OK, because Intel will take up the slack. If Intel was, for some reason, unable to produce MP's, all those guys would be in a REAL ugly situation.

Still, with the perceived importance of MP speed, don't you think Intel, with it's $billions in profits and R&D, should be able to maintain a lead over AMD?
