Hi taxman & all - the plot thickens! I have tried Daily Stock, which has linked me to Marketguide... At $42.72/share, it states that price/cash flow is 50 [which is the highest of all thus far.]

marketguide.com

Regardless, using the best case scenario from Bill, which is about 20, it is the average S&P number.

best, Bosco

Market Guide's data, however it was figured, is for the trailing 12 months and I note it also shows a PE of 103.58. For the date of the opinion, I believe that Morningstar's figures are correct. Thomson as of 12/3/99 shows Price to Cash flow for Tyco of 33.2, for the industry of 19.2, and the S&P is 17.7. Without quibling, I feel the analyst is correct and that Tyco currently commands a premium well in excess of the S&P. The operative item is whether it deserves a 50% premium over the average S&P company. I feel it does. Also, I would note that the Morningstar analyst was commenting on the price where it was p/cf was 41. He might feel better about p/cf of 33.
