BTW - it's Jeffry. (without the second "e")

My apologies, Jeff. We look forward to having you join us once you've absorbed the stuff in the manual. Don't make it a long stay away from us!

Jeff,

We all learn in our own ways, so let me add another suggestion. In addition to the manual, and even in addition to rereading the manual and adding the rest of the trilogy (Chasm and Tornado), I have long been an advocate of going back and reading the earlier posts on this thread, which is how I got a lot of the little investment education I have. Yes, it seems like a lot of work, and yes, the last couple of thousand posts have had too much chaff and not enough wheat.

But--the fact remains that the contributors here have often been extremely intelligent, sincere, and wise people, who have pooled a great deal of time and effort in order to get a better understanding of the companies and sectors under consideration. Subjects such as "what is the proper valuation for the Q," "is QCOM a gorilla and if so why," "what are the potential pongid prospects for companies like Gemstar and Siebel," "what are the pros and cons of diversification," "when in the TALC should I buy," "can gorillas be timed"--all of these and many, many more have been discussed at length in the past, and all of those discussions are available to anyone who wishes simply by clicking on the first post and flipping forward.

One reason so few regulars want to change things around here is that they are aware of how immensely fruitful the old ways have been. All the new posters (self included) are midgets standing on the shoulders of giants, and that's the chief reason we can see so far.

ok, now that I've got that sentimental gush out of my system, get the *&^@! out of here and start reading! (oops, sorry, wrong thread!)
