You sure are right! I've lucked out on options so far and am tempted to get out of most of them soon, even if I miss a further run-up. And yes, your point about managing the company not the street is very good; yet...I think the practical realities these days are that the street needs to be managed, too. Remember Jacobs said in a recent interview he used to stay awake at night worrying why nobody bought the stock when it was cheap; now he stays awake worrying what to do with all the opportunity he has becauseof increased market cap. So it seems to me the street's generosity or lack thereof can, these days, make or break a company, partly because of the speed with which things move. I agree it should be a secondary consideration, but nonetheless an important one, managing perception...
