Hi Steve,

I am not a big options fan, but I am looking at getting leap options on CREE on a pullback. BIG WINNER I think, worth a long position in my mind.

Regards, JB

OT CREE:

Hi Steve-

Here is info on CREE. I'm a BIG fan of this company.

Employees: 390

Cree Research, Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets silicon carbide-based semiconductor devices. For the 13 weeks ended 9/26/99, total revenues increased 63% to $20 million. Net income rose 96% to $4.6 million. Revenues reflect increased sales volume of light emitting diodes and high brightness chips. Earnings also benefited from higher interest income and increased margins due to lower prices and higher volume of high brightness products.

Key Stats:

Next Qtr. (Dec) EPS est.($) 0.15 vs. Dec. 98 0.10 or 50% increase!

I traded CREE earlier this year because to the price fluctuations. The stock had a rapid surge just before the last quarter's earnings and I sold on earnings news simply because to the price appreciation hit my predetermined target. I repurchased shares after the stock split this past quarter @ 30 and 35. I'm holding now and not going to sell any(unless fundamentals change of course) because I believe the company is on track of solid growth and this one is a keeper. The stock was upgrade last week with a $85 price target.

I would like to add to my current holding, but right now I'm looking to buy POWI because I like the fundamentals too and I don't currently have a position.
Now is it time to buy? Valuation is high: PE 100. Right at 52 week high. The PEG is over the 1.7 value indicating the stock has hit the Motley Fool Shorting value(which I'm NOT going to do!)
With the almost straight vertical climb in the NAZ and many tech stocks I'm sure there will be a correction in price at some point. What I don't know is when and how much higher the price will go before it happens. Clearly price momentum is in high gear with fuel to burn.

If you don't have a position already I would be waiting for some pull back to establish one. With earnings out in about a month(one date is 1/12/00 and another is 1/15/00) clearly buyers will continue to jump in on any dip. Of course a small position even at current levels will pay of handsomely next year.

Over at the Yahoo board a poster named Harvest knowledageable about Cree. He is about the only one I read over there.

Any info I come across I'll post it over on the SI Cree board.

See you there.
