Thank you, Alexander, those are beautiful images. I've never spent much time out West, but I do love lightning storms and I love fire. My husband and I were raking leaves (again!) in the back yard, and we were looking at our *very* large pile of sticks and branches, wondering what to do with them. He was saying that it would be so easy just to set them on fire. It's illegal where we live, of course, but I was wondering what the penalty is, maybe it would be worth it. (Not really!)

What we want to do with them is save them for the fireplace, but how? I've never had a fireplace before, but they look like good firestarters to me. I was thinking just cut or break them into short pieces, and then store them somehow, but how? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
