Mike: Re: "Maybe you or the folks on this thread can shed some light on this...let me elaborate. Choosing the stocks to be in this year has been an exercise in juggling 5-10 small and microcap biotech stocks. With time I would eventually lose patience and/or simply change my mind on whether I wanted to hold a position. Three of the stocks I gave up were NBIX, CRGN, and GLGC--three stocks which have done extremely well."

One must have patience in investing in individual stocks sometimes. If one focuses on one sector and the sector is out of favor, one is tempted to throw in the towel. Sounds like this happened to you. But if you have done your homework, the stocks should work at some point. Trouble is, one can have a few years worth of returns in a few days in small cap biotechs. I would try to diversify my individual holdings over several sectors to smooth out your returns. You know, of course, that all this points to the advantage of index investing. I think Wally may have referred to a QQQ type of investment for biotechs. Maybe this one is for you.
