George: "sustainability"

Have you noticed something something about the discussions wrt Sustainability? Rarely, if ever is the demand side of the equation ever mentioned. If it is, the addition is always vague and almost incidental. The focus is almost ENTIRELY on OPEC and y2k.

When the discussion shifts to the demand side, the "sustainability problem" will vaporize. Most reporters now use the stock phrase "recovering Asia". This is an improvement. They used to use "slowly recovering Asia", Latin America and Europe are rarely, if ever mentioned. Watch for clues in the shift in language financial reporters use. When OPEC and demand are 50 - 50 then you'll know Wall Street has got theirs and the new spin has arrived. Try to remeber George, we are dealing with the financial press, the home of small minds looking through the rear view mirror.

This is my choice for the boiler plate demand language the press will use when the the OSX is home free.

"Rapidly Recovering Asia"
"Booming Asia"

Don't expect any statistics. Numbers are just toooooo hard for some info babe/dude to handle. When those phrases start to become "mantracized" sustainability will fade. Of course Wall Street execs will have to reprogram most of their little robots in the press. I sometimes think that there is some brainwashing vault beneath 110th street in NYC where these info dweebs get reconditioned. Remember - The Glut The Glut The Glut mantra right at the bottom. So now it's the sustainability mantra.
