re: buying stocks in January

There's also the year 2000 transition potential panic to think about as well. History has shown that groups of people start acting really goofy at the end of centuries (yah, I now the end of the century is really next year (there was no year zero!) but that won't stop people from acting goofy both years :-) )

If we're lucky, virtually all of the real Y2K system problems will be outside of the private sector. But there is some uncertainty. Know one knows how many companies will end up like Hershey with their systems all screwed up and unable to ship enough product to maintain their market share. I expect a correction during the last week of December as more people join the sidelines. There should be a corresponding rebound up if only a few more companies join Hershey in early January.

Early January may be a good time to pick up stocks if you're willing to gamble that problems are minimal and companies are not hiding them until their next quarterly statement :-)

Still like ABTL even if it is stuck below 15 after spiking above 50.

ABTL only barrier is psychological at $20, after that it will climb. The financials, numbers, market position, and yes, superbowl ads are all in place.
