>>Present company excepted, it is those who would like to buy at a lower price who would even try to make a negative out of nothing<<

Puh-leez John, I have intelligently posted to this thread for well over two years, I am confident NOTHING I say or do makes an iota of difference to the stock price, and despite any opinion to the contrary, the announcement may have a psychological affect on the stock price.

I stated I thought it was fundamentally a good move, but there is inevitably going to be people who dwell on questions such as "did management cancel the program because they feel the stock is now fairly valued?", "why did the company wait until after market close Friday to make the announcement?", or "what effect will this 7 million share reduction in expected demand have on stock prices going forward?"

A smart move is a smart move is a smart move ... savvy investors will understand the intelligence of this decision; mules and cattle won't, prompting them to possibly do what they do best, march in step with the herd. As surely as it has in the past, and will in the future, the stock price will simply move accordingly to absorb the effects of these decisions!

If I misunderstood your reply, I apologize. But if I read your response correctly, I can't help but think I should never have asked the question in the first place, and that you were shortchanged a good 20 feet of the snowfall for making that remark.

Anyways, best to all SMTC longs, especially the ones who work hard and make things happen (yeah you pham :o), and the ones who were long SMTC way before it was fashionable (yeah you Leeza :o)

Regards, JB

P.S. Sword, not sure if you still visit the thread, but I am hoping for the best. Whatever the outcome, what you do is magic, an inspiration to those of us who stare in amazement when things go right, and when working on the very fringe, it is important to remember that success many times is best defined simply by having the opportunity to try and tackle the problem. Best to you and the family, your 3 are most undoubtedly hard at work, making their lists and checking them twice :o)
