huh ? who can say with certainty, such and such is a stock that WILL appreciate by 15 %, (to borrow from Mr Archer), not a penny more, not a penny less...nobody knows what a stock WILL do for certain...

stocks have a habit of doing better than we think they will or worse than we think they will. i think you have realized the former may occur and thusly held on to some mega winners. i know a guy who bought research in motion up here (you have it on the naz now) at 6 and sold at 16, very proud of himself. its 80 now (in canuck dollars)...others buy a small cap, see them go down, and do the dumb desperate thing of averaging down , never realizing the stock might just go to zero, which is incidentally the only time a broker and investor is totally honest about the future prospects...

if you've got a stock with an absolute iron clad guarantee of 15 % for a year, i'll put all my $ into it and shut the computer for a year...but that's fantasy. the reality is
there is no such thing.

off topic ? you play chess william ?
