Takeover speculation arises for GM - Barron's

NEW YORK, Dec 5 (Reuters) - Speculation has surfaced that General Motors Corp.
(NYSE:GM - news) could become a takeover target, according to a Barron's article.

Barron's writer Andrew Bary says that possible bidders could be a group of investors who
may seek to grab control of Hughes Electronics Corp. (NYSE:GMH - news), which is
majority owned by General Motors. Bary adds that a telecommunications company also could offer to buy Hughes from GM.

GM officials, who are preparing to gather on Monday in Detroit for their final meeting of 1999, declined to comment about any
takeover rumors or to say anything about its intentions for Hughes, according to Bary.

Hawk - bldp is obviously ahead of the curve. Not hard to be patient given that its time will come.

FWIW - my broker (who is very conservative) calls ballard the "intel" of 21st century. He's had a position for a couple of years.
